The first season of "The Originals" was a success. There were some viewers who weren't sure how it would perform, but were surprised at how different, yet just as addicting as its sister show "The Vampire Diaries." So what is in store for season 2? Producers Julie Plec and Michael Narducci revealed some details on what fans can expect, according to Enstars on Aug. 4.
At Comic-Con, fans were told that season 2 would be different than the first, but just as compelling. This season the goal is to create a warped fairytale component. Those that have seen "The Originals" season 2 preview agree that they have achieved that goal.
Narducci talked about the Mikaelson family and said that the actions of the past have consequences and will haunt those in the present. But that isn't all, Marcel will try to rebuild, but it won't be easy. This is because the town is now run by werewolves. He will try to rebuild his vampire community, which has been cut down to himself and Josh.
When the character of Josh was created, Plec said the plan was to kill him later in the season. However, her writers weren't fond of the idea. His death has been put off and he is now a regular character on the show. As for what to expect from Josh in season 2, both producers said that he will most likely have a romantic interest in future episodes. He is the only character that has been confirmed to be getting a new love interest, at least so far.
Spoilers Guide posted that Claire Holt, who has appeared on both "The Vampire Diaries" and "The Originals" will be returning in season 2. Plec wouldn't say how many episodes she would be in, but she will be seen at least once in the first three episodes of the season. Plec also hinted that she won't come back empty-handed. The writers (as well as fans) want to see Klaus and Hayley hold their baby at least one more time, but they are still working on building up to that moment.
Are you excited for season 2 of "The Originals" to air on the CW? Viewers won't have to wait that much longer. The season premiere is set to air on Oct. 6.
