Ru Weerasuriya has made some comments regarding the story of the upcoming PS4 exclusive video game, “The Order 1886.” In an interview with Games TM on April 15, the creative director revealed that the story is based on an ongoing war between humans and half-breeds set during the industrial revolution. The plot is going to follow The Order, a group of knights whose job is to protect humans from the half-breeds.

Ru Weerasuriya went on to state that the story won’t be finished in just one installment. The development team does have additional storylines set after the events of the first game. Along with a potential sequel to “The Order 1886,” the creative director also hinted that he wanted to expand the story in other forms as well.

The financial success of the upcoming video game could determine whether or not a second game in the series will exist. Although it is a new intellectual property, “The Order 1886” is one of most anticipated games announced for the PS4. It is also expected to be the biggest exclusive holiday release on the next-generation system in 2014. You can find the comments from Ru Weerasuriya in the interview below:

We’ve built this IP to be much bigger than just one game. There are stories that have been told in the game but there are stories that haven’t and stories about what happens after the events of this game. Absolutely, though, I would love to get the chance to tell more stories with sequels and other things we can do with the IP.

“The Order 1886” was announced at E3 2013 and should be showcased again at E3 2014. The new intellectual property is a third-person shooting action-adventure video game set in London. The video game uses unique weapons that may seem far-fetched at first but are actually based on science. Sony Computer Entertainment is the publisher of “The Order 1886” and should most likely end up being the judge as to whether or not a sequel would be made in the future. Ru Weerasuriya and his team from Ready at Dawn are working with SCE Santa Monica Studios to develop the first game. The first game of the potential franchise will be coming out later this fall.
