Outback Steakhouse will be serving free Bloomin’ Onions on Tuesday, Sept. 24, to celebrate their new aircraft‘s ability to fly at today’s Red Bull Flutag in Miami. Flugtags take place across the globe throughout the year but today was the first time a Flugtag has taken place simultaneously in five cities. It was at the Miami event that Outback’s new aircraft was able to take flight. Confirmation of the onion's aviation feat and the resulting free Bloomin' Onion was announced this afternoon in an email message to members of the company's consumer loyalty program.
In addition to Miami, today’s Flugtags occurred in Washington, Chicago, Dallas, and Long Beach, Calif. The Bloomin’ Onion team was one of thirty to attempt flight using self-built aircraft in the competition. The remaining dates for 2013 are tomorrow in Prague and November 1 in Doha, Qatar. Detroit has been a host, sharing honors with Windsor, Ontario, Canada, in past years but was absent from this year’s schedule.
To receive your Bloomin’ Onion you need to do two things. First say “The onion flew” to your waiter or waitress then order anything. It is that easy.
Remember the restaurant's $14.99 steak with all-you-can-eat shrimp is still valid if you want a dinner or perhaps you just want to share drinks with a few friends. But be careful, onions are not endless so if the Outback you go to has run out, the deal is over.
