Erie is home to Colorado’s newest craft cidery and brewpub – The Old Mine – and they’re throwing the ultimate bash to celebrate their Grand Opening this Saturday, March 29th, beginning at 11am (because day drinking is a must in the spring) for a full 12 hours. Better prepare your livers!
You’ll be able to try each of The Old Mine’s award-winning hard ciders served perfectly chilled in the cidery’s trademark mustache glasses. Handlebar Hard Cider (the flagship brew), Funky Apple #1 (a slightly different twist on the original), The Black Lung 12% Cider with Blackberries and Chocolate Carmel Apple are all on draft, among other beers from craft breweries across the country.
All of The Old Mine’s ciders are made with three simple ingredients: 100% US apples, pure cane sugar and yeast – which means they are naturally gluten-free and obviously delicious. Further validation of how awesome these brews are - Yellow Scene awarded Old Mine the Critic’s Choice Award for “best cider” in their Best of the West issue earlier this year.
Successful day drinking of course requires snacking so pair your hard cider or beer with The Old Mine’s artisan pizza or a Jurassic Pulled Pork sandwich – twelve-hour slow-smoked, hard cider infused and doused in BBQ sauce – is your mouthwatering yet?
The cidery is also building a brand new patio out back just in time for the summer months because we all know that cold beer tastes better in the sunshine.
Head over to 500 Briggs St in Erie on Saturday to celebrate with The Old Miners! You can let the masterminds behind these craft ciders, owners John Jacquat and Mike Yeager, know if they’ve achieved their goal – “to create a hard cider that can be enjoyed by all kinds of people – from causal drinker soccer moms to hardcore beer geeks.” Men after my own heart. Visit http://theoldmine.com/ for more information on the cidery and check out their seasonally rotating experimental hard cider. Happy cidering!
