There are only a matter of months left for the “The Office” and fans still have hope that Michael Scott (Steve Carell) will appear on the series finale. Those hopes may have just been lost today according to E! News on Jan. 6.
The NBC Chairman, Robert Greenblatt said he does not believe he will be back during NBC’s Sunday presentation at the Television Critics Association press tour.
"I'm hopeful, but I don't think he will be back. "He left in the way that he wanted that character to leave."
Greenblatt claims that Carell does not want to tarnish his characters final exit in season seven.
The series finale does not hinge on the return of Steve Carell. Of course fans would love it if he was involved in some way in the final show but it may not happen.
One thing is for sure, it does not appear that it is the producers that are keeping Carell from coming back. This is a decision that Carell has made due to the way his character has already exited the show.
“The Office” airs at 9:00 p.m. on Thursdays on NBC.
