'The Office' producer hires Tony Shalhoub, Allison Jenney for pilot

Over two years following the end of his beloved series "Monk," Tony Shalhoub is getting ready to return to TV -- though this time in a comedy from the same man responsible for "The Office" and "Parks and Recreation."

NBC has picked up a pilot for a new comedy entitled "Friday Night Dinner," which is based on the British show about a family who meets up (natch) every Friday night and talks about the events of the past week.

Both Janney and Shalhoub enter this show with multiple Emmys to their name, and considering Daniels' pedigree when it comes to critical and commercial successes, this has to be a favorite for pilot season.
