On Sunday, September 8, 2013 The Orange County Blues Society will present The Real Blues Festival Of Orange County 4 at Malone’s Bar & Grill in Santa Ana, California. The annual Real Blues Festival Of Orange County is Southern California’s only grass-roots festival for the Blues. The event will run from 12 noon to 6:00 p.m.
While the festival’s founder, Jeff “Papa J” Hudson, admits that the event “has gotten to be a lot more work” he doesn’t mind because “it's a labor of love. As we have generated a little more attention each year we are able to get some bigger acts to come in and that helps bring in a few more people each time.”
Special musical guests will include the Alastair Greene Band with special guest Frank “Paris Slim” Goldwasser and the Chase Walker Band, Crosscut Delux, Peach and her Blues Band with special guest Joey Delgado, Rod Piazza & The Mighty Flyers and, of course, Orange County-based bluesman harpist/vocalist Papa J (Hudson). While Hudson isn’t the type to boast or “blow his own horn” so to speak, in truth, he has worked diligently to tear down “the Orange Curtain” and promote the music he loves throughout the county. For over twenty years he has been one of the most important artists involved in the area’s blue scene as part of such acts as Blues Gone South and of course Papa J and Friends.
If this event is like others sponsored by the Orange County Blues Society music fans should find it to be an enjoyable event and should experience memorable musical moments from the various live performers scheduled to appear. Hudson states that even though there are some more well known acts slated they “are trying to keep ticket prices down to decent level so everyone can come enjoy.” Tickets may be purchased in advance at www.orangecountybluessociety.com for $20.00 or at the door for $25.00. Hudson says that he hopes people leave the festival with the feeling "that we are part of the same family. The Blues is America's music and we want everyone to experience the fun it can be." Indeed, as he has said in the past, if you want to hear the blues, this is "the right place!"
My name is Phoenix and . . . that's the bottom line.
