The Oakland Raiders announced on Monday that the team has released a number of coaches. The announcement was made by Head Coach Dennis Allen.
It was reported on the Raiders web page that offensive coordinator Greg Knapp, special teams coordinator Steve Hoffman, offensive line coach Frank Pollack and linebackers coach Johnny Holland were let go.
The Raiders did struggle in many aspects of the game this season which led them to having another losing record, 4-12.
Most of the work needed was in the defense which was a surprise to most since Coach Dennis Allen is a defensive minded coach. Most Raider fans expected a better defense this year since the coach came to improve that aspect of the game. It was to no avail however.
On a good note, these were the first steps that the Raiders have taken to improve for a better season next year.
Coach Allen was quoted by the Raiders web page, “Decisions like this are very difficult." He also added, "I have a great deal of respect for all of these men and I appreciate their contributions to the Oakland Raiders this season."
And that’s that! For now! Raider fans will be expecting more changes during the break. That is a sure fact!
