In the wake of the excommunication of NWA Velocity on Tuesday from the NWA and with more former promotions speaking out against R. Bruce Tharpe and Chris Ronquillo there seems to be an increase in the uneasiness that is the new regime and they are quick to lash out.
"They were accused of bullying when this thing started," said a source close to the NWA, "and now it is little more than thuggery."
Tharpe and Ronquillo are being vilified in locker rooms across the country, on message boards and in the media after either suing or anathematizing anyone who would speak out against them or question their authority and plan of action.
"These people paid their money but have no say and worse cannot say anything without fear or either being sued or worse" the source, who requested anonymity said. "Some are afraid to say anything that would get back to them (Tharpe/Ronquillo)."
According to the bylaws of the membership agreement a member can be dropped from the NWA with little or no explanation and there is no guarantee that they will be offered renewal of their membership if/when it comes due. Ricky Otazu was threatened with being dismissed and Austin Rhodes was summarily dismissed from the NWA with little or no warning after Otazu reportedly asked for an update on the direction of the company and why there had not been weekly conference calls on the state of the NWA. Rhodes has gone on record saying he believes he was dismissed after he challenged Ronquillo after he (Rhodes) was promised the Austin, TX territory and was swerved after paying his yearly dues ($300).
"There is more to come, people are going to soon see just who Bruce Tharpe and Chris Ronquillo truly are and what they are about" the source added.
It would appear that the NWA is having internal turmoil as well and it has been learned that an intent to file has been put in front of a Cameron County Texas court involving the members of International Wrestling Corporation, LLC. More on this as it becomes available...
