The NRA launches a 'Stand and Fight' campaign with Obama as the target

After meeting with the vice president and his committee to find solutions to curve the gun violence in this country, the NRA made it clear that arming teachers and putting armed guards at every school in the country was the answer. Joe Biden submitted his summation to the president two weeks ahead of schedule and yesterday the president announced his proposal to the nation.

Despite the fact that two weeks are left in this month the NRA felt skeptical that their suggestions had not gained any traction with the president and launched a campaign of their own. The organization endorsed a new video game which debuted Monday aimed at ages four and above which teaches the player how to aim and shoot after arguing that movies and videos were at the root of the violence we are experiencing.

The video game was followed by the launching of a new website which contains an ad that many feel went too far by making reference to the Obama children. A spokesperson for the NRA denounced the fact that Obama's children were referenced in the ad because it did not mention them by their names, only Obama's children. That statement bring into question who was the ad directed towards if not the Obama children.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that the ad is a direct attack of the character of the President of the United States. The ad asks the question, "are Obama's kids more important than yours?" President Obama is referred to in the ad ad as being an "Elitist Hypocrite" because his kids are protected by armed guards and yours are not. The White House has condemned the ad as “repugnant and cowardly.”

Despite the fact that the proposal outlined by the president on yesterday contained beefing up security at schools the NRA has no plans to take down the ad. Whether you are a supporter of the NRA or you support the president's position on banning assault weapons, the fight is underway and public opinion is on the president's side. An overwhelming number of NRA members support tighter gun controls as well as those who have had enough of the NRA using scare tactics to boost gun sales. This fight is long overdue and yesterday Obama became the first president to make gun control the first legislation put forth at the beginning of a term in office.
