The Not so Clean Crystal City Virginia

Crystal City, VA is a busy area full of hotels, businesses, restaurants condos etc. It is an area where you see many tourists walking around in the midst of business men and business women. I use to say that in this area the streets were also clean and the sidewalk. And it is evident in that every once and a while you would see someone cleaning up litter until lately but then again this matter that I am about to speak of should not be the responsibility of a worker but the social responsibility of individuals that walk their dogs in this area.

Lately, dog owners who walk the Crystal City, VA area have not respected the sidewalk. A passerby indicated to me that she witnessed a man throw his dog waste trash bag into the designated dog trashcan and miss only to shrug and walk off. The area where the mishap has been noticed the most is on the sidewalk on the side of the Hyatt specifically near Airport Plaza II Building and the Apartment Buildings. The sad thing is this area is opposite the dog trash can and it is not a big deal to clean up after your dog.

After all wouldn’t someone clean up after their child or themselves? Pet owners are quick to state that their pets are “family members “and I can attest to that belief. Keep in mind that in this case, your family” is a reflection of you so it would be of best interest to clean up after your “family member,” and put the waste in its rightful place.

Hopefully authorities will start fining these people that have violated Arlington Code he Arlington County Pooper Scooper Code (Arlington County Code §2-5(b) and §2-22) states that residents are responsible for picking up after their dogs. It is it is unsanitary, not to mention the horrific smell and it is not fair to those of us that have to walk the sidewalks because of others carelessness.
