The Nissan Leaf is the perfect pace car for the Bolder Boulder 10K

The all-electric, zero-emissions Nissan Leaf will be the quintessential pace car for the 2011 BolderBOULDER running event next Monday, Memorial Day, May 30. As an official exclusive automotive partner, Nissan is actively cleaning the air and bringing the World Car of the Year to the world renowned event, sharing its mission of encouraging healthy lifestyles.

Nissan will also host Olympic runner and fastest American marathoner alive, Ryan Hall, who recently recorded his personal best time of 2 hours, 4 minutes, 48 seconds in April during the Boston Marathon. He will participate in the BolderBOULDER 10K for the first time in three years and take time to offer attendees workout tips, autographs and photo opportunities at the Nissan display.

"I'm really excited to be competing again in Boulder," said Ryan. "It's one of the greatest 10Ks in the country with a challenging and scenic route. The members of the Boulder community are always enthusiastic about the race, and I know they'll appreciate the zero emissions Nissan LEAF leading the way as pace car."

This event is the second in the Innovation for Endurance program, launched by Nissan and Rodale, Inc., connecting Nissan and the electric Nissan Leaf with a series of well known running and cycling events across the country.

"The Innovation for Endurance program is one we're particularly excited for. Not only does it allow Nissan to directly play a role in supporting local fitness events, we get to extend the reach even further through integrated online content," said Jon Brancheau, vice president of Nissan's Marketing Division.

The program is focused around the health and fitness "Innovators" who offer the latest tips on the dedicated Facebook page, encouraging everyone to take their performance to the next level.

Since 1979, The BolderBOULDER has taken an active role in  encouraging the community to protect both their health and environment. The race seeks to jumpstart summer with a 10K race featuring staggered starts to accommodate different running abilities and also produces 30 entertainers along the course.
