The Nicki Minaj-Mariah Carey war over? (Video)

The feuding divas appeared at a Television Critics Association Panel on Tuesday to promote the 12th season of American Idol. Asked by journalists about last year’s argument, Minaj and Carey shared that their feud is over. As much as they stated otherwise, the tension between the two was still apparent.

At one point the singers were asked to say something nice about each other. Minaj had no problem letting the niceties role off her tongue, including saying “[Mariah’s] one of my favorite artists of all time. She's really shaped a generation of singers.”

Carey, on the other hand, seemed to fight for words and took a moment before responding. After clearing her throat and mentioning her babies, she went on to talk about how she and Nicki worked together previously on a song Up Out My Face. Mariah stated it was one of her favorite videos and songs. Also saying about Minaj, “I did feel that she was going to go very far and still have that feeling and am grateful for anything nice that she or anyone were to say about me."

In an exclusive interview with ET’s Rocsi Diaz, Mariah clarified the “messy moments” with Minaj on the show. “You just have to adapt, and I think my thing is I have to be myself and if that means in that moment, I don’t hear you, I don’t see you, you don’t exist to me at this moment, that’s what it is.”

Both judges stated they want the focus to remain on the show and the contestants and not the judges.

American Idol season 12 premieres Wednesday and Thursday, January 16 & 17 at 8/7c on FOX, with panel judges Randy Jackson, Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban.
