With fans waiting for the upcoming launch of the Xbox One and Playstation 4 versions of the popular sandbox creation game, 4J Studios has announced that a new skin pack add-on will soon be releasing for the existing Xbox 360 edition of Minecraft. The official website for Xbox Live Arcade revealed on Aug. 27 that the next DLC will bring licensed characters from Doctor Who to Minecraft’s block filed worlds.

The Doctor Who skin pack will give fans the option to change their in-game Minecraft avatars into a variety of different characters from the science fiction television series. The full list of Doctor Who characters who will be included as part of the DLC offering has not yet been released but gamers should expect the add-on to contain a similar number of skins as seen in previous skin pack releases, which would mean that a couple of dozen new avatar options should be added with the DLC.

Since the console editions of Minecraft do not support modding, these official skin packs provide the only way for fans to change their character skins. The upcoming Doctor Who DLC will be the latest in a long list of licensed add-ons that bring various characters from popular television, gaming, and film franchises to Minecraft.

At this time, the Doctor Who skin pack has only been confirmed for the Xbox 360 version of Minecraft. No word has been given as to whether the add-on will also be launching for Playstation editions of the game. However, The Xbox 360 does tend to receive a larger selection of Minecraft DLC packs so it wouldn’t be a surprised if this newest skin pack also ends up being an Xbox exclusive.
