It is known that Bioware Montreal is currently working on the next Mass Effect game, but details as to the plot of the franchise’s next installment have yet to be revealed. Unfortunately, according to a tweet from Bioware Edmonton and Montreal general manager Aaryn Flynn on Dec 8, fans will have to wait until at least 2014 before the developer is ready to begin discussing the future Mass Effect release.
At this point, all that has been confirmed regarding the fourth game in the Mass Effect series is that it won’t star long-time protagonist Shepard as the commander’s story concluded in the original trilogy. Since Bioware has not announced the timeline of the upcoming Mass Effect title, or even who it will star, the possibilities are nearly endless as the game’s lore covers thousands of years.
Flynn only revealed that the developer will hopefully have details to share about the next Mass Effect in 2014. The game is currently untitled as it is unlikely to be called Mass Effect 4 in an effort to separate the series’ future from the Commander Shepard trilogy. The franchise’s next entry is being created using the Frostbite 3 engine.
