Frank, Dino and Sammy are reincarnated at Lorenzo's this weekend.
Sinatra, Martin and Davis Jr. swing into town tomorrow to launch the 2012 Lorenzo’s Cabaret Series at The Hilton Garden Inn tomorrow night.
They are not really reincarnated but they do have that swing. The New York Rat Pack is back by popular demand at the Hilton Garden Inn venue. “They are entertainers — fabulous entertainers. They lay in your lap. They do a lot of humor. They do a lot of schtick the way the Rat Pack did,” adss Barry Brown in The Staten Island Advance.
The original Rat Pack was a supergroup of actors and musicians featuring Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr., Peter Lawford and Joey Bishop, who often gigged together in Las Vegas and appeared in early ‘60s films, including “Ocean’s Eleven.”
Marilyn Monroe also pops up in the show, yanking a man from the audience on stage to serenade him with “My Heart Belongs to Daddy,” adds The Advance. Among the other Rat Pack hits on the program are: “Lady is a Tramp,” “New York, New York,” “Summer Wind,” “Sam’s Town,” “You’re Nobody Until Somebody Loves You” and “That’s Life.”
Working together since 2004, the New York Rat Pack does about 50 dates a year, ranging from shows at B.B. King’s in Times Square to corporate dates in Pennsylvania to surprise 80th birthday parties in the United Arab Emirates’ Dubai. Marilyn's alter-ego joined the show in 1997 to spice things up a bit.
"The act is a lot of improvisation," says Perce to The Advance. “Because that’s what these guys did at the Sands in Las Vegas,” he says. “The reason they were such a draw was you would never see the same show. Anything could happen.”
