Extend the New Year’s celebration with a Viennese concert at Orchestra Hall in Chicago's Symphony Center.

Salute to Vienna,” a program of light, traditional Austrian song and dance comes to Symphony Center Jan. 5, 2014 as part of a musical cultural tribute that takes place in the United States and Canada to ring in the New Year on a cheerful note.

Based on past programs, Chicago’s “Salute” will have audiences swaying to Strauss waltzes, this year played by the Strauss Symphony of America with the Chicago Philharmonic under the baton of Viennese conductor Christian Schultz.

Couples from the International Champion Ballroom Dancers will show off a few moves of their own. In addition, the music and setting is perfect for the graceful dancers of the Europaballett-St. Pölten.

The concert also features tenor Brian Cheney and soprano Monika Rebholz.

Details: Salute to Vienna is a 2:30 p.m., Jan. 5, 2014 at Orchestra Hall, 220 S. Michigan Ave., Chicago, IL 60604. Tickets are $39-$105. For tickets and information on Salute to Vienna and other Orchestra Hall holiday concert information call 312-294-3000 and visit Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
