The new Photoshop Express for Android

Adobe announced the launch of the redesign of their Photoshop Express app for Android. This mobile app had been fairly long in the tooth and somewhat forgotten. First there was Adobe’s flagship app, Photoshop Touch for tablets and then smartphones. Then just last week Adobe announced a major update to Photoshop CC with version 14.2. So, the free Android app Photoshop Express had been left in the dust. I must admit even I uninstalled Photoshop Express when Google announced their Android version of Snapseed.

Yet Adobe was not to be undone by other mobile photo editing apps and returned their attention to the largest mobile user base OS, Android. Adobe has completely redesigned their Android app by unveiling the following new features:

This version was rebuilt completely from the ground up for Android and is KitKat compatible. users will appreciate accessing and processing images saved on the SD card faster than before.

They've made the app easy-to-use by bringing the most popular features to the top. The ‘Looks’ (Adobe’s word for filters), cropping, red eye reduction, and auto-correct are now all easy-to-discover.

The savvy user will appreciate the Corrections menu with slider controls to fine-tune exposure, contrast, highlights, shadows, temperature, tint, etc.

Under the hood, this release is powered by Adobe’s latest image rendering engine, coming to Android for the first time improving performance and enables handling of large file sizes.

It’s still free.

Plus something that Android users have been looking forward to is the integration of Adobe Revel. Revel is an app that lets you keep all of your personal photos and videos in one place – organized, and available to share privately. You can use Revel to share photos and videos with different circles of friends, family and colleagues – only invitees can contribute or see what’s shared.
