The New Orleans Saints have advanced to 3-0 on the season and are one of just seven undefeated teams left in the NFL. As of Sept. 24, 2013, others realized their work too and that is why the Saints moved up quite a bit in all of the major NFL Power Rankings.
New Orleans came out this past Sunday and demolished the Arizona Cardinals 31-7 thanks to Drew Brees and a stifling defense. This Monday night, the Saints will take on the undefeated Miami Dolphins and one team will fall.
The running game of the Saints is extremely anemic at this point, and almost seems nonexistent some times. Luckily, the passing game is doing so much to pick up the slack and keep the score rising for the black and gold.
What many are contributing the Saints' success to though, is that of a defense that has been rebuilt, redesigned, and rejuvenated by defensive coordinator Rob Ryan. He is working with a lot of fill-ins as a number of players were injured and lost for the season, but the Saints are making it work.
As for now, let's see where the major sports outlets have the Saints ranked in their NFL Power Rankings.
FoxSports.com: The Saints moved up from 11th to 6th
The Saints are the fifth best scoring defense in the NFL right now, giving up just 12.5 points per game. But its not like the Bucs or Cardinals are extremely dangerous offenses. Let's see how they stack up against Miami, Chicago and New England the next three weeks.
CBS - Pat Kirwan: The Saints are placed at 4th
Rob Ryan continues to impress with very little to work with, and Jimmy Graham is unstoppable.
ESPN: The Saints moved up from 8th to 3rd
The Saints' defense has held all three opponents this season to 17 points or fewer. New Orleans allowed 17 points or fewer in three games all last season.
NFL.com: The Saints moved down from 8th to 4th
Payton doesn't coach the defense, but that unit sure is interested in playing for him and coordinator Rob Ryan. Next up: Hosting the 3-0 Miami Dolphins on Monday night.
SI.com: Peter King has the Saints sitting at 3rd
Saints started 0-3 last year. Allowed 40, 35 and 27 points. Saints 3-0 this year. Allowed 17, 14 and seven points. Rob Ryan for mayor.
