The second movie in the Twilight series, New Moon was released at midnight on Friday and the reviews are out. The internet buzz on this movie is the hottest search of the day. Many Twilight fan movie goers were in line yesterday to see the midnight showing of the movie and they just can’t get enough. Scroll all the way down this page for a video review of the New Moon movie.
We know you will go see this movie whether the reviews are good or bad. But here is a New Moon description and some reviews coming in from around the country to help you decide when you will go.
Fandango New Moon movie description: In the second installment of Stephenie Meyer's phenomenally successful TWILIGHT series, the romance between mortal and vampire soars to a new level as Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) delves deeper into the mysteries of the supernatural world she yearns to become part of—only to find herself in greater peril than ever before. With more of the passion, action and suspense that made TWILIGHT a worldwide phenomenon, THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON is a spellbinding follow-up to the box office hit.
USA Today: Werewolves inject life into 'New Moon' but the sequel still sputters - The werewolves have it all over the blood-suckers in The Twilight Saga: New Moon. When these oversize, hirsute creatures burst onto the screen, they inject life into a rather inert story. Once Jacob and his pals morph into teenage werewolves, the pace picks up. Then it dials down again when Bella, Edward and Edward's sister Alice (Ashley Greene) venture to the Italian hilltop town of Volterra. The intended suspense when they are confronted by evil vampire rulers never pans out. Michael Sheen, the crimson-eyed Aro, plays the character with more high-pitched giddiness than menace. Daokta Fanning has a small role as the innocent-looking Jane, who calmly tortures Edward with her mind. The lovelorn Bella has little to recommend her as a heroine. She's sullen, self-absorbed and stubborn. That such a bland and passive character elicits the amorous devotion of both Edward and Jacob is rather mystifying. Almost as incomprehensible is the huge appeal of this series, beyond the obvious timeworn fascination with vampires and werewolves.
LA Times New Moon movie review:
"This is the last time you'll ever see me," Edward Cullen says to Bella Swan. As if.
Spoken early on in "New Moon," that promise is one of the least likely to be kept in movie history. With most of that film still to unfold, and two more adaptations of Stephenie Meyer's "Twilight" series in the works, the next due out as soon as next summer, the world is going to see as much of Kristen Stewart's melancholy Bella and Robert Pattinson's undead Edward as it can take. Maybe more.
In the short term, however, Edward is as good as his word, and "New Moon" suffers as a result. Constrained by the plot of the novel, the film keeps the two lovers apart for quite a spell, robbing the project of the crazy-in-love energy that made "Twilight," the first entry in the series, such a guilty pleasure.
"New Moon," which has been grandly titled "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" in honor of that first episode's huge success, marks the franchise's entrance into the self-protective, don't-rock-the-boat phase of its existence, which is inevitable but a bit of a shame.
Twilight Examiner review: There are those who are Twilight fans, and there are those who are not (though the latter category grows smaller and smaller by the hour). In this review of The Twilight Saga: New Moon, the perspective is unabashedly that of a fan of the books and film series, and it is intended to speak to those who share that origin.
For starters, it must be said: The Twilight Saga: New Moon was a Twilight film made explicitly for Twilight fans. That’s not to say that any run-of-the-mill attendant won’t enjoy the movie, of course, but the truth of the matter is that New Moon was constructed around and for its built-in fanbase – and it’s all the better because of it.
The Twilight Saga: New Moon comes on the heels of one of the most surprisingly successful films (aside from this year’s Paranormal Activity) that’s been seen in a while. When Catherine Hardwicke and Summit Entertainment made Twilight, there was no indication of what was to come with this film series. In fact, there was no clear expectation that it would be a film series so much as a single independent movie. Now, with Twilight fans having made a very vocal and undeniable mark on popular culture, The Twilight Saga: New Moon comes at the behest of weighty anticipations.
"The wait," as the cast of New Moon has said, "is over." The Twilight Saga: New Moon opens this week in theaters, and there is no doubt that whatever type of fan appreciation award exists for a job well done in this film series will be bestowed aplenty upon this team for this movie.

MILLY-PUERTO RICO
Such a good movie!! All the actors improved from the last movie.Taylor was great he deserves much recognition for his role. Robert was great! Was glad to see him in the movie. He does a great job portraying himself as being tortured. Love him. Kristen is gorgeous in this movie. I feel it takes her a while to get into character but once she does its great. I am looking forward to the next two.. Keep up the great work.
I HOPE ECLIPSE AN BREAKING DOWN ARE AT THE MOVIES BEFORE DEC 2012
love this movie great for about 10 and up much betta than the last one
who cares what the reviewers say. i LIKED IT.
completely surpassed my expectations....loved every minute of it...romantic, funny, and a thriller, what more could u ask for! a must have movie!
omg i can't wait to see the movie today i bet it's going to really good!
I don't care what they say about it, this movie was amazinggggg. I loved every minute of it :] well worth staying up until three a.m. at a theater.
I feel like this one really captured the essence of the novel, especially when dealing with the struggle for Bella between Jacob and Edward. To me it seems that the movie reviewers don't have the passion for the novel. It wasn't as cheesy this time around. Don't get me wrong I love Twilight. But, I felt like this time when watching the movie you could feel the intensity and passion almost as much as you when you read the novels. To me that is a win.
I thought it was amazing! Well done. This book in the series is a hard one to read and a major downer. But the movie made it better. I liked the movie, wheereas this is, I think, the least favorite of her books. I just missed the Bella/Edward relationship. Perhaps the character of Jacob in the movie fleshed it out more for me.
I dint understand why these "reviewers" had a problem with New Moon i loved it. If they movie would have differed for the book then it would have sucked. Who gives them the right to say because it was like the book it sucked....if you don't like the book don't see the movie.
Well - It was ok - but I guess after reading the book you are much more critical. I thought the movie was choppy - edited poorly - it did not flow well. On a lighter note - the wolves cgi was very good - the volturi were portrayed well - some key lines in my opinion were omitted - like Jacob telling Bella "If I were smart I would drag this out a bit". I really thought Twilight was better edited. But I will still go see it again
Twifans Know what they love and They Love this movie! It was amazing,Even My husband wants to go see it,and he is not a twilight fan at all. the movie rocked keep up the FANtastic work!!!
Actually the line "If I were smart I would drag this out a bit" was in the movie was in the movie with minor change in words something like "If I were smart I would have drug this rebuild out a bit" or something like that... Anyway the movie was pretty good, agreed it was king of choppy and timing was off on when a few things happened but the main timeline was left pretty much in tact. The ending was kind of rushed after Edward thinks Bella is dead there wasn't alot of build up like in the book. Action was hyped up too much but decent. All in all ok but not as good as the book.Of course without being word for word exactly like the book that is impossible so can't be too critical. I wish they had done better flow but I don't know if I could have handled waiting any longer lol.
There's only one legitimate place I've found to watch it, the rest seem like scams :-/ You can see it over here though: freeonlinemovies.us/watch28015.html
If you just want to download it instead of stream it they uploaded it to freeonlinemovies.us/file2018451.html already :)
YES I LOVED IT BUT MY THEATER HAD SOME TECH PROBLEMS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE MOVIE SO I NEED TO SEE IT 3 OR 4 MORE TIMES THEN I WILL POST MY COMPLETE REVIEW!
I liked the movie but I thought it could have been better. Would have Katherine Hardwick directed this film, then it REALLY would deserve the title the best movie of the year! The transition from scene to scene was not good..in other words, it did NOT flow well at all. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed watching it but I think they tried to put the movie out too fast and cram too much into it. I like that there were parts that differed the book from the movie but I didn't understand some scenes and I've read all 4 books over and over for a year now. I am just going to have to see it again to make a better judgement. I would like to hear what is said about the movie from a person who is a twifan but hasn't read this book yet.
oh em gee, if only i was kristen stuart, having two uterlly gorgeous guys fall for you, omg so jelous. ive died my hair brown to look like her. ive also got a tatoo of robs autograph on my wrist, my heart actually hurts for him, i cannot express my love. i wish he was mine, theres never a moment in the day when im not thinking about him and how much i feel like i need him! ROBERT PATTINSON IS MY GOD, I AM THE BIGGEST TWILIGHT FAN IN THE WORLD, GAURANTEED. i need him to bite me :P, i want him in my arms 'sad face' :(
I just came back from the movies and I thought it was excellent! The movie was true to the book for sure. I think I will see it again in the theaters!!!
I saw the movie at the midnight showing and i loved it im a true twihard and i was disapointed that twilight wasnt more true to the book, however this movie stayed extremely true to the book and i am a very difficult person to please when it comes to twilight. this movie was amazing and anyone who did not enjoy it obviously didnt read the books and if they did they didnt understand it, granted im a 16 year old fan girl, but i told my self if i didnt cry durring this movie it sucked...and i cried multiple times. the only complaint i have is the contacts for the vampires very bulgy.
wow! the best movie. way better than the first. they actually put everything that was in the book into the movie. i didnt think i would like it because im a huge edward fan and i didnt wanna see only jacob, but theres more of edward than i thought. and jacob grows onto you. ah! it was so so goood! everyone, GO SEE IT! dont listen to the bad reviews, theyre wrong i promise. listen to me.haha im telling you,its good. like better than good, its the one of the best things i've ever seen. you should all get a ticket and go! and if you already went, go again; i am!
-cant wait for eclipse! june (:
The movie was great! It had a few moments where(if u had not read the book)it would have taken you moment to know what was going on. It flowed really fast, going quickly through things that were more drawn out in the novel. Of course, this was due to its movie format. It followed a little more closely to the novel this time and it lost some of the romance between Edward and Bella. Hopefully, this will be brought back in Eclipse. All in all, the movie was very good and I'm looking forward to watching the next two. :)
Ok...I absolutely loved the movie, but there were some parts that were slightly disappointing to me. Of all the things the movies can do these days, I expected the wolfs to look more REAL than they did. Don't get me wrong, the graphics were much better than Twilight..in fact, no compitition, but I expected more. Also, I hate Alice's hair! I loved her look better in Twilight and I know that their eyes were suppose to stand out, but not to where it is all you notice! And, I thought Dakota was suppose to be AWESOME in this movie...She only had like 5 lines!!! She did LOOK awesome though...I just need to go see it again.
Just seen the New Moon movie and boy was I disappointed!!!!!
Their first mistake was getting rid of Katherine Hardwick.
The characters were beautiful (Edward & Jacob - beautiful, even Kristen looked better in this one.) But, the story line itself was choppy.
It was true to the book, but just didn't flow well. The wolves were too computer animated looking. The volturi wasn't dark & evil like you expected them to be - The ending sucks! Soundtrack sucks!!! Left you hanging so you would want to see the next one - which is great for the producers, but if the next one is this bad what difference does it make. You miss the mystery, the romance, the 5 minute kiss, the feeling you got when you watched twilight. It just wasn't the same. The best part were the trailers that they put out. If you've seen them, then you've seen the best part of the movie. I heard a least 60% of the audience complain afterwards. Just short and simple - You really messed this one up Chris Weitz. Thanks a lo
It is amazing. I adored Twilight, but I've got to say this one makes it look like crap. It's sad, funny. exciting. All around great movie. GO SEE IT!!!!!!!
I wish i could watch it!!! xx( the dvds need to come out asap so i cant watch!! it sucks being in mozambique!!! l0v l0v l0v tw!l!ght!!!
I thought the movie was really good. Ive read all 4 books and the twilight saga is absolutely great writing. The only complaints i have about the movie is the slow-mo scenes it felt as the whole movie was in slow-mo and when a slow-mo scene came it felt as if it drrraaggeedd out. And that the whole "edward wanting to die because he thinks bella died" went way too fast they should have built suspence like in the book. Although i know nothing can compare to the books and stephanies writing i thought the moving was pretty AMAZING. It had a great sense on humor, romance, action. I even thought my boyfriend was getting into it :] But yeah dont be afraid of how it turns out twi-hards! It ended up great! GO SEE IT ASAP! <33
What a weird review. Catherine Hardwicke BUTCHERED Twilight and wandered off the story line several times. New Moon did just the opposite - it stuck to the story as it was told in the book we loved. I thought it was a vast improvement - but I've also noticed that the people who liked the movie are fans of the books - and the people who don't, are not.
The movie was good. However, if you were not a DIE HARD TWI FAN, you really would be 'lost' for a bit thru the movie. There should have been more music to help the movie "flow" better, like Twilight too I thought. A few scenes?? Had there been some killer music to help it flow?? wow!!! I would have been great!!
But all in all....the movie followed the book. And that was good to see!!
WOOOOHOOOOO!!!!
Ok....Edward nailed his role as usual of playing the heart sickened, tortured vampire in love with a human!! Yes, he's 'skinnier' than Jacob...but he's suppose to be!! lol He's a dead guy who drinks blood for a living!! lol All those vamps are skinny!!
Bella...man I felt so sorry for her when Edward left her....then Jacob too!! She was soooo alone!!!
GO TEAM EDWARD!!!!!!!!!!! Beautiful....timeless!!!!
GO TEAM JACOB!!!!!!!!!!!!! TAYLOR L. UR HOT!!!!
I went to see New Moon at The Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City on Friday at 12:01 am and the power went out just when we got to the Volturri part. I loved what I SAW SO FAR....I AM AN ADDICT and love Stephenie Meyer's writing. I can't wit to see it again and THE ENDING.
Let me just say close 500 were forced out of the theater and NONE of us got our money back.
I went to the
this movie was amazing. i was worried that it wouldnt be as good without edward but it totally kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. It was better than the last one and i think chris did an exelent job. I cant wait for eclipse!!!!
I attended the movie at a pack out theater and their was no seats left and had to sit way down front so I was up close and personal with the characters. :) I felt like the New moon was great and was well directed and followed the book really well. There were some parts in the book that they did not show that I would have like to have seen but overall excellent movie. If you have not seen it go see it great for all ages.
First let me say I am a die hard fan of the books! Love THEM! But the New Moon movie really disappointed me. It jumped into things way to much (the whole movie). I wish it would have built up to events better.Thats what made the book so interesting. ANd the ending>? Thats not how it ended in the book. I hate to say but that was prob one of the worse directed movies I have ever seen.
well yea good and bad!
i was so happy because a friend surprised me with a ticket when they were sold out for the next few dayz i watched it last night but ugh the movie was soo short it left out so much from the books i was so upset so i asked some other ppl who havent read the books to hear what they had to say and all that came out was "it was ALRIGHT" ugh !!! i was hurt even more i felt that it didnt compleatly explain what was going on...in some parts i had to tell wat was going on....but dont get me wrong im going to watch the movie again and again im going to get it as soon as possible i just fell it could have been soooo much better...next time i direct!
just to start imma die hard # 1 twilight nerd
but this movie so so lame i teared up more before the movie just thinking about how sad it would be then how much i actully did during it! ugh the flow..lame animation..lame vamps contacts..lame ending...so lame director...lame....// omg the only thing good i can say is the begin of the movie stuck to the story but went by so fast that of yu didnt read the books yu didnt catch any of it...im already upset that we will have to expect the same for eclipse because of the director im so dissapointed with this i thought twilight was ok but it was fantastic compared to this dredfull movie ugh!
I thought New Moon was great. I remember being very very upset about Twilight, but I feel like New Moon followed the book very well. I have no complaints.
Extremely disappointed in this movie.........thoroughly enjoyed the book but the movie just didn't have the "IT" that made the book one of the best of all four. I thought that Twilight was far from a great movie - but overall - it had more 'meaning' than New Moon.........and oh God how much more fake looking could that first warewolf actually be........you couldn't help but laugh at it. Granted, there were some good scenes in the movie but overall HUGE disappointment.
Hmmm I loved reading New Moon. It was such an emotional book. but the movie really disappointed! there was no spark between the characters, and Edwards looked so suicidal the entire movie - even when they were meant to be 'happy'! There were so many corny 'one liners' that were so heartfelt in the novel, but so bland in the movie. Kristen did not convey the absolute despair the Bella felt and I just felt no emotion in the entire movie!! The novel ending of New Moon is so awesome and emotional, but there was none of that in the movie! And all they had to do was wax Robert Pat's ugly hairy chest and that would've improved it 100% (and he has a terribly weird nipple!!) EEK!! Yes, I'll still watch the movie tones of times, but it could've been sooo much better. :(
AWESOME MOVIE!!! Unlike Twilight this movie stayed true to the novel. Yes, a couple minor things were left out but that's because it is a movie this time and not a book. They can't fit every little detail into the movie! We believe that the second movie was so much better because Catherine Hardwicke did not have anything to do with it. We LOVE the books and can't wait for the next 2 movies. If you haven't seen New Moon we HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO!!!
the movie stuck to the book, which i have to say i loved! its a movie made for the twilight fans and people who have read the book because for those who don't know the story, it jumped and skipped parts and it didn't seem to flow. Bella's performance wasn't the best and neither was Edwards but HELLOOOOOOOO Jacob (: this movie has made some competition for Edward! in the book, i am ALL team Edward but after watching this movie, i am really torn between book Edward and movie Jacob!
Ok - did anyone else have a problem with the way they changed things in this movie?? Edward did NOT fight with the Volturri - and if you read book 3 and 4 you would know that Edward is a very skilled fighter and would not have lost his battle with Demetri! I was team Edward all the way until seeing the movie. They made him look horrible - but - yes - he is supposed to be suffering over his loss of Bella - I get it! - but could their kiss scenes have been any more stale? Could those new contacts worn by any of the vamps looked more fake? - Twilight was not the best - but it beats this movie in my book.... and could Kristen have been a little more convincing? - she really needs some new acting skills - she just fell flat as far as I'm concerned....

people got to realize, if you didnt read the books, you would be lost. if you read the book, you would understand the movie more bc the movie scenes did jump too fast and it would leave you lost. true, only twilights fan would love the movie and if your not a twilights fan and went to see the movie just for the hype, your lost. go read the books!! read between the lines, before you judge. have a nice day.
you can only fit so much in a movie, changing things around, like adding a fighting scene is part of the movie world. i thought the fighting scene was great. overall, the movie was something to look forward to and cant wait for the other two to come out. hope, to see a more intimate and emotional scenes in breaking dawn. i hope, they dont cut any parts of that sort in the movie, it would suck.
I was disappointed with New Moon.. believe it or not, I liked Catherine's take on Twilight better than the new director for New Moon.. Catherine was more dark and ominous.. this new one was very bright, which I felt didn't flow well with the overall situation of Bella loosing Edward. The acting was of poor quality, compared to Twilight.. But I felt the directing was worse. Cut scenes everywhere without explaination. Only those who read the book can enjoy this movie. All characters seems really flat to me, emotionally. I was just upset, I hate to say it. I invested alot of excitement into this movie, and was sadly disappointed.
The movie was so so definetly could have been better
