The New Invicta FC will stream their 1st All-Female Fight Card live!

On April 28, 2012, Invicta Fighting Championships (Invicta FC) will present its first all-female fight event: Invicta FC 1. The good news for Knoxville MMA fans is that even though the fights are to be held at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas, you will be able to watch this historic event - LIVE...via Internet stream!

Promotion officials announced the 12-bout card will be streamed in its entirety for FREE on their website, beginning at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.

Invicta is the brain child of Janet Martin, who previously worked for Blackeye Promotions out of Asheville, North Carolina, and Shannon Knapp, the former Strikeforce and IFL executive.

According to the organization's bio, they intend to "create a Women’s MMA Community and Competition Platform for WMMA Fighters and Fans. Elite female fighters, New Hybrid talent, and Up and Coming fighters transitioning from amateur competition to professional level WMMA from around the globe will have the opportunity to compete in a Cage of Their Own. They will be fighting to earn their shot at a World Title in several weight divisions. Female Fighters will take center stage in a fan-friendly, energetic, and supportive competition environment, where they will no longer be the spectacle, the after-thought, or by-passed in the sport that they and their fans love: WMMA."

The event will feature 12 fights, to include some of the best names in WMMA, including a number of Strikeforce fighters, several top fighters in divisions Strikeforce doesn’t promote, and the most anticipated pro-debut in a while via Randi Miller. Headlining the event is the featherweight rematch between Marloes Coenen, the former Strikeforce champion, and Romy Ruyssen; and in the co-main event, a face-off in the105 lb. division between Jessica Penne and Lisa Ellis-Ward.

“Since we announced the formation of Invicta, we’ve received tremendous support and interest from fight fans around the world who are eager to watch some of the best fighters in the women’s field of MMA compete in our first event,” said Shannon Knapp, Invicta president and co-founder, in the official release.
