It’s that time again. The weather is getting warm and the sheep need to have their winter coats removed.
The New Hampshire Sheep and Wool Growers Association invites you to “Join Us For a Wooly Good Time” at the New Hampshire Sheep and Wool Festival. Held at the Hopkinton State Fiargrounds in Contoocook, New Hampshire, this year’s festival is on May 8 and 9. They are also hosting the The New England Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association Alpaca Fest
Events include be educational programs, special workshops, a fleece to shawl contest, a fiber show, a fleece show and sale, a handmade with fiber show, as well as many vendors. Knitters will enjoy a workshop on knitting and crocheting with unspun fiber. In a circular knitting demonstration attendants will work together to knit a shawl which will be raffled off next year.
Family “make and take” activities include making a felt bead necklace, tiny wet felted vessels, and weaving on a cardboard loom. Other events will teach participants historic dying wool methods, and how to make nuno felt flowers and felted beads.
