One of the favorite activities for families at Disneyland is meeting the various Disney characters. And the most popular are the Disney Princesses. Princess Fantasy Faire, located next to It's A Small World has been closed for months now as it is being converted back to the Fantasyland Theater. "Mickey and The Magic Map" will open there this summer.
So what's become of the home for the Princesses? They are being moved to a new location, just to the left of Sleeping Beauty Castle. The "new" Fantasy Faire is currently under construction and is scheduled to open in the Spring. They have taken over the area formally occupied by the historic (but rarely visited) Carnation Plaza Gardens. The only remnant left is the tent of the old bandstand which will now be the Fantasy Faire Stage.
Guests will walk through a village square surrounded by medieval cottages and pavilions. At the heart of the square is the Tangled Tower, inspired by the film. There will be activities and entertainment, including a Royal Ribbon Parade where guests can dance and interact with the Princesses. And the Royal Hall is where guests can meet the various Princesses throughout the day.
The Fantasy Faire Stage will have two shows presented during the day. One will be the story of Beauty and The Beast. The other will feature Rapunzel and Flynn (Eugene) from Tangled.
Construction is easily visible from the Central Hub and the castle. For a more accurate and detailed look of the finished product, you should visit the Blue Sky Cellar at Disney California Adventure to see concept art, a model of the area, and a short film telling the stories behind this project.
By the way, if you're wondering if the Princesses have been left without a home, don't worry. You can still find them across from their former residence at Small World Plaza, next to Princess Merida's meet and greet. Rapunzel and Flynn still reside in their tower next to King Arthur's Carousel. And throughout the day Princesses can "unofficially" be found next to Sleeping Beauty Castle and occasionally right as you enter Disneyland.
