The new Chedi Andermatt Hotel is a masterpiece of Asian and European design

When they say that good things come to those who wait, the Chedi Andermatt is a great modern-day example of this being a very true statement. The buzz began about five years ago with this monumental property being developed by GHM, which followed with the paperwork filed and construction beginning more than four years ago. Throughout the process, hints of the property's magnitude have been revealed, and as of December 20, 2013, the doors have been opened and all will finally be revealed - just in time for the Holidays.

GHM has an impressive collection of hotels in locations such as Vietnam, Indonesia and Bali, while several equally impressive hotels are slated to open in the coming years, including this property, Maldives, India, Japan, UAE and Morocco. The Chedi Andermatt looks to be a beautiful marriage of Asian and Swiss design with the level of professional staff and luxurious amenities being exactly what one would expect when bringing the best of the European and Swiss hospitality industries together.

Now open to guests, Chedi Andermatt is part of the notable Leading Hotels of the World collection. With more than four hundred properties throughout more than eighty countries, the global perspective makes them a perfect solution for the long-term success of this property. Meeting the high standards of the Leading Hotels of the World, they will promote this property based on, "Being surrounded by the natural, year-round beauty of the Swiss Alps, The Chedi Andermatt nestles elegantly among the classic ski chalets of Andermatt, a village of timeless charms in the Urseren Valley, an easy two-hour train ride from Zurich." Once completed during 2014, the overall complex will include 169 residences, suites, hotel rooms and penthouses, at an overall cost in excess of CHF 300 Million (USD 335 Million).

Not unlike the global perspective on hospitality from GHM and The Leading Hotels of the World, the General Manager has worked around the world in various roles in preparation of undertaking this prestigious position at the Chedi Andermatt. Alain Bachman, a Swiss national and alumnus of Les Roches International School of Hospitality Management said, "It is an honor for me to be a part of this milestone for GHM, as well as the hospitality landscape in Switzerland. The Chedi Andermatt will not only raise the profile of the destination, but also up the ante for the standards for luxury."

The GHM brand has become synonymous with style, service and serenity, and with the help of renown architect Jean-Michel Gathy, the Chedi Andermatt is comprised of 104 spacious guest rooms and suites. Traditional materials such as warm woods and natural stone create intimate yet visually striking environments among the accommodations and extensive facilities; yet again bringing together the warmth of European design with the Asian clean lines and design elements. The dining is a worldwide experience in itself with opportunities to marvel at the enticing selections inside the five-meter high cheese cellar at The Restaurant and then savor the authentic sushi and sashimi options at The Japanese Restaurant. Additional dining and lounge areas exists on the property, as well as a comprehensive spa and wellness center featuring the one-of-a-kind and state-of-the-art hydrothermal baths and two contiguous swimming pools against the stunning outdoor alpine landscape. The unique design seems to fit into the landscape perfectly, just as the Chedi Andermatt's destiny was to be in this very location.
