Battle for the Cowl conclusion
Today the conclusion of "Battle for the Cowl" was released and our new Batman was revealed. Or was he?
We see someone suit up as Batman with a smiling Alfred and Damien looking on. The art doesn't reveal their full body, just the back of their head. Dick Grayson had been narrating the issue, but the narrative switches from first to second person. The concluding line is not "I am Batman" but "You are Batman". Could it not be second person narration? Could someone else be donning the cowl? Are we getting a fake out?
We've known for a while that Dick Grayson was going to be the new Batman. Tony Daniel's blog gave it away, and other pieces have come together since then. If there was still any doubt, the solicitations for "Blackest Night: Batman" will get rid of it.
I just wish that DC Comics had given us a definitive answer instead of leaving it ambiguous. An event as big as this deserved some more scenes too. We never saw Dick Grayson declaring he would don the cowl or him talking it over with the others. A three issue mini-series should of had the room.
Let us not forget that today is a big day. This month is Batman's 70th anniversary and we are also getting a new Batman today. This isn't the first time Batman was been replaced, and it isn't the first time Dick Grayson has done it. It's still an important event and I know I am not alone in the readership that looks forward to the new direction.
Are we being faked out? Is Dick Grayson Batman? What do you think? Send us your thoughts at batmanexaminer@yahoo.com and follow us on twitter.

I really dont like it,the reason I liked batman was that the billionare playboy BRUCE WAYNE a man made for wealth and luxury battling crime, the whole concept was awesome, batman is and always will be Bruce wayne and im happy to say that if he doesn't return(Bruce)as batman I will gladly stop reading batman comic books coz batman is anyway no more.
I knew right from the beginning Dick was going to be Batman. When I first heard they were going to kill Batman I freaked. I love Batman. And I'm fully supportive of Dick taking over the role at least temporarly. He's the best man for the job out of all the Robins, and I always felt he deserved it best. I was more than a little suprised when I read that Bruce didnt want him to become Batman. Which leaves the question, what exactly was the part in the will left to Jason for?
