This young and hip cast comprise of three ladies and two guys taking over the Atlanta scene. Atlanta has become the hot spot for reality shows lately. Well let’s get to know these interesting characters of Bravo’s latest creation, shall we?
Emily is a quirky blonde who describes herself as a ‘southern Jewish redneck’ whose accent is so thick and country it requires subtitles on occasion. She owns a clothing store and her best friend is Tribble, a tall jock-looking cool white guy.
Africa, yep that’s her name, is a thirty-something woman struggling to break into the music industry and solicits the help of Vawn, an entertainment consultant, who doesn’t do “R& B. I do Star & B.” He name drops that he discovered Blu Cantrell (where is she now?), The Dream and worked with Cody Simpson (who?). After he regurgitates a bunch of catchphrases and Namaste vibes that would make anyone sick to their stomach-you quickly become aware that there’s a deep sexual chemistry between the two of them.
Alex rounds out the crew. Right off the bat she is seen as the rich, spoiled young woman who is graduating from college and lives with her parents. Alex has a celebratory dinner in her honor and invites her friends and her mom, who looks a lot like Momma Dee from Love and Hip Hop Atlanta.
Emily is turned off by Alex’s desire to be nothing more than a trophy wife and mother of six kids -3 will be adopted, she states. Alex is proud of her mom’s position as a trophy wife to her dad who is a dentist and wants to have the same lifestyle.
Emily can’t relate because she is a business woman and can’t believe Alex just wants to sit up on her butt all day plopping out babies. Africa escorts Emily out when the discussion gets heated.
The glares, stares and back talk spill over to Africa’s birthday party. Emily gives Africa her birthday gift. She loans her friend “Ken Doll” Tribble to be her date. Africa admits she’s never dated a white guy and jokingly tells Emily that she doesn’t want to have kids where people think she’s the maid because her kids wouldn’t look like her.
One of Alex’s friend’s eavesdrops on Emily and Emily 2 (Emily’s employee/friend) and hears them talking about Alex’s Lion King styled mane which Emily 2 believes is in need of a relaxer and disses the cheap looking Forever 21 type of dress she is wearing. The episode ends with Alex approaching the ladies. One can only assume some hair, heels and fists will be flying in the next episode.
The New Atlanta airs after I Dream of NeNe: The Wedding every Tuesday on Bravo TV.
