Why is it that every time Nonito Donaire, Jr. fights, there's always got to be a piece, interview, video or a snippet that rehashes his family drama?
Why are some people and some media outlets so interested in recycling this story over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over........
No wonder why when I was in the Philippines, whether it was Manila, Cebu, Bacolod, Baguio, or wherever else in between, people would ask me about Donaire's family drama.
If you think Donaire is a bad person or a bad son, okay. I think people have established that in their minds years ago. I just don't see the point in why some people are so invested in his personal issues and repeatedly want to bring it up.
The only time people should clean other's backyards is in the literal sense, and with consent of course. Only God can judge. I'm sorry, I guess I just have a problem with hypocrites. Every time a person approaches me to say negative things about others and act like they are so clean and faultless, I run away as fast as I can. I'd rather joke around and talk about positive things like say, how beautiful women are.
It's sad to see that some media outlets would go as far as finding Donaire's grandparents in the most remote areas just to get a controversial reaction and stir things up anew.
This is old news. It's time that we left that family alone to fix their own private and personal issues and maybe then they can mend their differences behind closed doors. What more can they say? It's the same old, same old.
This issue goes way deeper than any spectator can even understand or assume, and obviously, the media outlets that continue to cover the issue couldn't care less about what truly happens to that family, for as long as they can get you to pay attention.
It's got to stop.
I can understand why the issue came about years ago, but that was years ago. People can forget about other fighters' multiple shortcomings, but when it comes to Donaire, it's the same thing over and over again. Is it because they simply have a personal vendetta or dislike over the kid? What happened to professionalism?
Why not talk about Glen Donaire's comeback quest and how hard he's been working with his dad Nonito Sr.? Why not talk about how Donaire can further improve as a fighter or avoid repeatedly injuring his fist? What's next? They'll try to find Donaire's cousin's grandfather's driver's lover's ex-boyfriend's cousin's friend's hairstylist's brother to talk about how Donaire has forgotten them as well?
I think we get the point. Many people think Donaire is a bad son and whatever. And? Floyd Mayweather, Jr. called his father a "fa3got" on TV, but you don't hear people talking about that every single time. Not saying Donaire is right or wrong, but this issue is like an old sad "April Boys" song that some media outlets love to keep playing and force-feeding the masses time and time again. I won't even say it's time to move on, because that time has come and passed a long time ago.
