The names of Fort Hood shooting victims

Beginning late last night, the Army began to notify families about causalities from yesterdays Fort Hood shootings. Those families have spoken to the media and stories have been coming up throughout the day with the names of the dead and wounded. The military has yet to release a complete official list of victim names. The following list is based on new reports coming in from around the country. It does not include all of the names and it is not an official military list.

Dead

Aaron Thomas Nemelka, 19, of West Jordan, Utah

Reservist John Gaffaney, 56, of Sierra Messa, California

Spc. Jason Dean Hunt, 22, of Tipton, Oklahoma

Sgt. Amy Krueger, 29, of Kiel, Wisconsin

Spc. Kham Xiong, 23, of St. Paul, Minnesota

Pfc Michael Pearson, 21, of Bolingbrook, Illinois

Russell Seager, 51, of Racine, Wisconsin

Francheska Velez, 21, of Chicago, Illinois (she was pregnant and due in a few weeks)

Governor Jim Doyle of Wisconsin said an additional Wisconsin soldier was killed, but his name has yet to be released.

Mysa.com is reporting that a Soldier with the Minnesota National Guard died, but a name has yet to be released.

Wounded
Amber Bahr, 19, of Random Lake, Wisconsin - shot in the stomach but is in stable condition

Keara Bono, 21, in Army Reserves from Independence, Missouri - shot in the back left shoulder

Alan Carroll, 20, of Bridgewater, New Jersey - shot three times

Dorothy “Dorrie” Carskadon of Rockford, Illinois was critically injured

Staff Sgt. Joy Clark, 27, of Des Moines, Iowa - gunshot wound

Spc. Matthew Cook, 30, of Binghamton, New York - was shot in the abdomen

Pvt. Joey Foster, 21, of Ogden, Utah - shot in the hip and needs surgery to remove bullet

Nathan Hewitt of West Lafayette, Indiana

Justin Johnson, 21, of Punta Gorda, Florida - shot in the chest and leg

Staff. Sgt. Alonzo Lunsford, of Richmond County, North Carolina - shot multiple times

Spc. Grant Moxon, 23, in Army Reserves from Lodi, Wisconsin - shot in the leg

Kimberly Munley of Killeen, Texas is the Fort Hood civilian police officer - shot multiple times. It was initially reported that she was dead, but she is alive and in critical condition and being called a hero.

Major Randy Royer of Dothan, Alabama - was shot

Pvt. Raymondo “Ray” Saucedo, 26, of Greenville, Michigan - bullet grazed his arm

George Stratton III, 18, of Post Falls, Idaho - shot in the shoulder

Malik Nadal Hasan is the accused shooter in Thursday’s shootings, he has been shot several times and is in the hospital. Hasan, 39 recently received orders to deploy to Afghanistan, and is a psychiatrist at Darnall Army Medical Center at Fort Hood. He graduated from Virginia Tech and had a psychiatrist licensed in Virginia. He has also worked at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. He is a US citizen of Jordanian descent, he was born in Virginia and has never been deployed outside the US.
