When I was little, my family would visit my grandparent’s house quite often since they lived about 30 minutes away. Every once in a blue moon, a trip to the mysterious attic would occur and I loved these times! I always came back with something dusty, with a bit of a smell and wonderful. Most of these trips down from the attic also contained one or five more Nancy Drew books. My mom grew up on Nancy Drew books. I’m pretty sure she owns every single one. I believe they now all live comfortably in the basement of my house. Which is not as fancy as the attic.
Luckily for Charlottesville residents, #34 The Hidden Window Mystery can be relived March 30-April 3 where area Nancy Drew fans will join to walk the steps written by Carolyn Keene. Area locations like Seven Oaks and Mirador are said to be written into the text and will be explored through Nancy’s eyes.
The Nancy Drew series are an easy fictional read, great for kids of all ages. Gather the kids and taking them to live out one of Nancy’s books might be a jump-start for any non-readers you might have or just really exciting for any fans. Being a bookworm myself, I find the idea fantastic to bring the book to life! Getting your kids excited about reading at a young age will help boost the drive later in life. They’ll thank you when they’re older. Maybe not in the teenager years, but one day. Oh, by the way, thanks Mom and Dad!
