Music is constantly playing in my head. No matter what day or time it is, it's the sound of music that fills my quiet moments. 1. Love's Galaxy-Tracy Cruz
Tracy Cruz released her sophomore album in 2011 to much fanfare. Most of the excitement was due to her leading single "Love's Galaxy". This smooth, grooving single immediately puts me in the mind of Kindred the Family Soul or classic Jill Scott. Although she is from the Bay Area in California, Tracy and her producer/husband Allen Ross embody that classic Philly Soul sound that has penetrated and left a lasting effect on the the music industry and music lovers like myself. 2. Surrender All- Sean C. Johnson
I recently wrote an article about this gospel soul crooner, and here he is again. His 2012 release titled, "Simply A Vessel Vol. 3: Surrender All" received much love. So much love that he is still touring from that same album to this very day. My favorite cut from that album is "Surrender All". It is a record that speaks to my soul as well as my musical taste. 3. Black Gold-Diggs Duke
Duke is not a fluke!!! Diggs Duke is the truth!!!! Underrated, unknown, known, overlooked, and highly booked. I am happy I found this artist a few months ago, and I have followed ever since. His $3 EPs that are available on his Bandcamp website are classic. They are filled with live instrumentation, classic interpretation, and inspirational music art. 4. Random Thoughts-Homemadesoul
Homemadesoul has a knack for creating sounds that have that distinct quality. He gains his inspirations from Stevie Wonder, Musiq Soulchild, Marvin Gaye, and John Legend. His music is his own, and although he tries hard to mimic his influences, the music still comes out as his own. Random Thoughts is the title of his new album, and the lead single. The album is due out Feb 19th and the single is already in rotation at radio stations around the world. Listen and enjoy a little of Homemadesoul here.
5. A Couple Of Forevers-Chrisette Michelle
The newest single from major label recording artist Chrisette Michelle, "A Couple Of Forevers" is a classic sounding ballad. It samples "Stairway To Heaven" by The O'Jays. It has that classic Philly soulful sound quality, and Chrisette's voice is an angelic accent to the instrumentation. If you love soul, you will definitely love this.
