The "Morning After Pill" now available without age restriction (Photos)

The FDA has won the case to remove the age restriction for what is call the “morning after pill” by some. Until now, a female had to be a minimum of 16 years old in order to get this morning after pill from a pharmacist.

This “morning after pill” is also known as Plan B and was originally approved by the FDA, but a prescription was required at that time. There has been much controversy about this Plan B pill because many thought the pill caused abortion.

The Plan B pill is claimed to prevent pregnancy if taken within the correct amount of time after another method of birth control may have failed.

The ruling made by United States District Judge Edward Korman will allow a female to buy the Plan B pill without the advice or assistance of a parent or other adult. Some don’t agree with this ruling, but as it stands today, females will be able to make this choice alone.

While the argument for and against birth control continues on many levels, the role of the Plan B, or “morning after pill” will no doubt cause more disagreements in many areas.

Parents may feel they have a right to decide if their daughters make a choice to take this or any other medication. Some are seriously concerned about possible health concerns that may be caused by taking the Plan B pill.
