The "Morning After Pill" controversy is a big as abortion controversy

Should they let the "Morning After Pill'' MAP be available over the counter? The battle of us versus them has gotten so big, the actual point of "what for" has been totally forgotten.

The idea of emergency contraception, or a Morning After Pill, is based on the theory, if a woman has unprotected sexual intercourse (without use of contraception, contraception failure or cases of rape) and fears she may become pregnant, she can take large doses of birth control pills to prevent a pregnancy.

Emergency contraception, "Morning After Pill," is a high dosage of the birth control pill. It is recommended for use after sexual intercourse, over a period of 72 hours, to prevent an unwated pregnancy.

There are three birth control pills currently being promoted for this use: progesterone alone, estrogen alone, or both of these artificial steroids together. Again, these are the same steroids found in the typical birth control pill.

Two of the most commonly used emergency contraceptive pills are Preven and Plan B.

The abortion rate is at an all time high, and women of all ages, burdened with an unwanted pregnancy will go to extremes and even risk death in an effort to stop it. Easy access to a healthy alternative to abortion in necessary. The "Morning After Pill" is cheaper and less wear and tear on a woman's body.

The issue of controversy is allowing the MAP to fall into minors, younger women's hands, without prior consent from their parents. Young girls, these days are having their first menstrual cycle at even younger ages, as early as nine years old. So it is no wonder that some young girls, pre-teen may find it necessary to have access to the "Morning After Pill."

Parents across the globe find it absurd and are willing to fight this one issue 'tooth and nail,' younger girls from having access. But what parents do not understand or maybe are not willing to recognize, is that it is not all about them. What about the victims of "sex trafficking" and incest, abortion is too late. The world is not as pretty, and all black, and all white for some populations of young girls, as it is for others.

Some people are worried, that the MAP is a government planned conspiracy meant to control the population. Nothing could be further from the truth. It is all about women's health, and the woman's right to not go through the trauma of abortion, mentally or physically.

Gone are the days of back alley murders, in the name of unwanted pregnancies. We have the power to stop it before it begins, we all should have access to that right. The "Morning After Pill is cheaper on the government than the 980 million dollars spent on first timester abortion $350 or second trimester abortion $2500, for the 1.73 million abortions that are performed each year.

It is not about killing a baby, it is about stopping a possible unwated pregnancy.
