The month of acrobatic performances continues

January is fast earning a reputation as the Month of Acrobatics at the Mahalia Jackson Theatre. While the 18th reveals a joint performance from the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra and touring Cirque de la Symphonie bringing circus and symphony together in a concert hall, the 25th has scheduled a brilliant, crowd-pleasing dance production from the New Orleans Ballet Association.

Paris choreographer Jacques Heim directs an athletic performance combining dance with a variety of architectural structures. The show's title: Diavolo. Heim describes it as “a live abstract painting. There is no narrative, but strong themes pervade...” Among those themes are: fear, survival, destiny, and love.

During the performance, Heim will turn the MJT stage into a playground. And for the finale: LPO joins the Diavolo company for an act titled Fluid Infinities. The sci-fi-esque set lays the land for a unique experience that will thrill and mystify the audience.

Curtain call for Diavolo is 8pm on January 25th. However, Heim presents a pre-performance talk at 7:15, located on Mezzanine Level 2 (M2) at the MJT. Tickets can be purchased here or at the MJT box office.
