The month ahead in Philadelphia: St. Patrick’s Day at Fado’s Irish Pub (Photos)

Sunday, March 17, 2013, is St. Patrick’s Day which is a cultural and religious observance of the patron saint and national apostle St. Patrick who is recognized for bringing Christianity to Ireland in the 1700s. Over the years it has also became a time to celebrate everything Irish.

In Philadelphia, they really know how to celebrate this observance and it won’t just be limited to March 17. The city will be hosting a lot of St. Patrick’s Day activities during the month of March because why limit it to just one day?

Fado’s Irish Pub, located at 1500 Locust Street, will be hosting several activities throughout the month of March. Where else but an Irish pub to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day correctly?

On Saturday, March 9, the festivities will start at 7 A.M. and there is no cover charge. At 9:30 the live 6 Nations Rugby begins and the cover charge is $10. At 11:00 the outside event will begin and the cover charge is also $10. Live music will begin at noon featuring acts such as Galway Guild and Lima Bean Riot. There will also be Irish dancers performing all day and at 6 P.M., D.J. Press Play will take center stage. The day, also known as St. Practice Day, will feature other acts such as Fair Trade from 1 P.M. until 4 P.M. and Weird Science from 6 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.
