The month ahead: Exciting events at the UNL School of Music

Many people are busily following their favorite football teams in the playoffs or cheering for their NCAA basketball team, but the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, School of Music, has some exciting performances scheduled this month that certainly deserve your attention.

Guest artist, Robert Satterlee, pianist, comes to Kimball Recital Hall on January 18th. His performance, at 7:30pm is free and open to the public. A program featuring William Bolcom, William Albright, and other exciting music should help warm a chilly January night.

Faculty artists performing in January include Christopher Marks and Friends, John Bailey, Chiara String Quartet, Jaime Reimer, and Craig Fuller--that means you can hear organ, flute, string quartet, soprano, and tuba recitals just by a short drive to the UNL campus and an enjoyable evening at Kimball Recital Hall. More information will come for each of these recitals, but meanwhile, check out the links above and put them on your calendar! Also, excepting the Chiara String Quartet's performance, all faculty recitals at UNL are free.

One other exciting event taking place at the School of Music before the end of the month is the Celebration of American Song: Leonard Bernstein. Joining together to bring this special evening to you are UNL voice faculty, alumni, and students showcasing songs from musicals, classical works, and lesser known songs. This event is on Monday, January 30th, 7:30-9:30pm, at Kimball Recital Hall. Tickets: $5, student/senior $3.
