The monetary value of Mom

Most moms would agree, the role of mom is the hardest and most demanding job in the world. It is arguably the most valuable job to the world as well, yet the work is done for free (only in sense there is no paycheck at the end of the day, but certainly there is reward). How much are a mother’s duties worth on a standard pay scale? Salary.com surveyed over 6,500 mothers, both stay-at-home and working, to quantify motherhood duties. Based on time spent in the 10 most common activities as a mom, salary.com determined a stay-at-home mom’s gross salary equates to $115,432 and a working mom’s – in addition to her outside workplace salary - to $63,472. Wouldn’t that money increase the standard of living for most families!

Salary.com created a Mom Salary Wizard to calculate any mother’s salary based on a number of personalized factors, including number of kids and area of the country. Check it out here: http://swz.salary.com/MomSalaryWizard/LayoutScripts/Mswl_NewSearch.aspx (a wizard for dads is also available on the site, just look for the link on the one for moms).
