The Mommyista: Events by sassy local moms that inspire and educate

It's no secret that mothers get tired. They are often overworked and overwhelmed.  Mothers' lives revolve around their homes and families and they spend little to no time focusing on themselves.  Whether she is a stay-at-home mom or a working mom, if her children are 2 months old or 20 years old, any mother will tell you that there are days when she can barely get out of bed, much less be bothered to put on lipstick.

Two local mothers have set out to provide the tools necessary to uplift and inspire the lives of other moms in Tampa Bay .

Autumn Jones and Kara Hann are friends and former teachers who chose to stay at home when their children were born.  It wasn't long before they realized how easily new moms could fall into a slump.  Looking around, they noticed it wasn't only the new moms who were down in the dumps.  Friends with school-aged children were often exhausted after spending all week battling homework, dealing with adolescence and driving from one practice to another.  This was not a very promising outlook on their future.

Autumn and  Kara were determined to climb out of the new-mom-funk and revert back to their fashionable and energetic former selves.  From their deliberation and research emerged an idea, and that idea became a reality.  Incorporating their 12 years of classroom teaching experience, and their hip approach to parenting, The Mommyista was born.  The Mommyista hosts social and educational events  for moms in the Tampa Bay area.  They are dedicated to inspiring moms, prepping and planning every detail, to make sure their events are worth a mother's valuable time.

So why attend a Mommyista event?  Moms get the opportunity to meet like-minded women and learn about the topic at hand. Topics can include anything from health, beauty and fashion to learning reading strategies, or talking to your teens about sex.  Not only do moms leave with a greater knowledge that they can apply to their every day lives, but a sweet goody bag to boot.

What have Autumn and Kara learned about starting their own business and what advice do they have for other potential mompreneurs?  "Juggle.  Squeeze things in at nap time and after lights out!  Kids come first.  Have a passion for what your doing and you will make it work.  Ask everyone you know how they can help. You would be surprised how many people are willing to lend a hand."

A hand, or four.  Between the two of them, The Mommyista founders have 4 children between the ages of 5 months and 2.5 years old.  If they can learn ways to stay refreshed and inspired, anyone can.

The next Mommyista event is their Big Bash on September 14, 2009 at  Wine Styles in Wesley Chapel.  Click here for more information.
