The Miz was in full character as he publicly addressed two former protégés of his. The Miz takes full credit for the success that Daniel Bryan has been experiencing over the last few months including winning the world heavyweight title. However, he takes a shot at Alex Riley for thinking that he would be better off on his own and not with The Miz. According to a Tuesday February 7th report by SkySports.com, The Miz made the following comments about Bryan and Riley:
"I take full credit for Daniel Bryan being World Heavyweight Champion having mentored him on NXT and Monday Night Raw. When he won the Money in the Bank briefcase he promised that he would do something that no-one else had done before and cash it in at WrestleMania. But then he did what everyone else did - what he watched me do the year before - and cashed it in at the end of another match. He followed directly in my footsteps."
In the spring of 2010, Daniel Bryan was being mentored by The Miz on WWE NXT, which was the inaugural season of the show. Bryan would go on to join up with Nexus as they rebelled against the WWE establishment and their mentors. Nexus would wreak havoc on the WWE for the rest of 2010 and early part of 2011. However, Bryan was the first one to be dropped from the group. Eventually in 2011, Bryan gained momentum as a singles wrestler and started to win individual titles. He would finally see his crowning moment by winning the SmackDown MITB match an earn the world title contract which he promptly cashed in at the TLC PPV in December. He pinned an unconscious Big Show after his match with Mark Henry and won the belt.

As for Alex Riley, Mix had the following comments about him: "I thought Alex Riley would be very impressive but then he left my side and all my coaching went out the window. He's gone his own way now and where has that got him? On Superstars every week!"
Riley was also groomed by The Miz like Bryan. However, Riley spent at least 6 months by the side of The Miz where Bryan only spent about 6 to 8 weeks. Riley and Miz caused chaos in the WWE for the first part of 2011 until Riley had enough of Miz and turned on him. The two would go on to feud for a few months with Riley coming out the victor. Unfortunately, Riley has spent the last 4 months in relative anonymity. He's seen his push disappear and has been relegated to a glorified jobber. For more on The Miz's comments click here.
