A Miss Uzbekistan mystery has hit the headlines. As reported by the Daily Mail on Sept. 14, 2013, Rakhima Ganieva is the mystery woman in question. She's from Tashkent, Uzbekistan. In case you've never heard of the place, "Uzbekistan is a landlocked country in Central Asia. Before 1991, it was part of the Soviet Union." Tashkent is the capital of Uzbekistan.
The Miss Uzbekistan mystery is a puzzler because the 18-year-old Rakhima seems to have come out of nowhere for competing in the Miss World pageant. She'd be the first woman from Uzbekistan to compete in Miss World, except officials from Uzbekistan deny knowing her or ever sending her to the competition.
Tashkent's Pro Models modeling agency represented Rakhima for a short time when she was 15. Zhavlon Momolov, a spokesman for the agency, said:
"Rakhima Ganieva never passed through any special selection process in Uzbekistan. If there had been a process to choose a young lady for this competition, I can assure you that a much more beautiful model would have been chosen."
One look at Rakhima Ganieva and "beautiful" would come to mind to many who see her. Most would consider the long-haired brunette, with big brown eyes, far from ugly. Perhaps the real Miss Uzbekistan mystery is why Momolov would say such a statement? Was he angry and simply trying to be as disrespectful as possible? He went on to say, "I’m sorry that Ganieva is choosing to build a career on lies."
