Fans of Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition may have been surprised to day to see that the recently revealed Natural Texture Pack for the game was available for a limited time early today. 4J Studios commented on the new texture pack’s premature release in the afternoon of Oct 17, stating that the DLC was indeed pushed live on accident. The developer updated fans shortly after their first statement to confirm that Microsoft admitted that they had accidentally released the Natural Texture Pack early and would be taking the add-on down as it wasn’t meant to become available yet.
As such, the second standalone texture pack for 4J Studios' Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition has indeed been taken down. Since the DLC was already packaged for release, allowing Microsoft to accidentally push the content live, it’s likely that the add-on is very close to a legitimate release at this time.
Like the Plastic Texture Pack before it, the Natural Texture Pack will allow Xbox 360 owners to alter the visual appearance of their Minecraft worlds. This is something that only PC players could previously experience, as the console version of the block building game didn’t have support for new textures until recently.
Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition is available either as a digital download via Xbox Live Arcade or in stores as the title received a physical retail disc release earlier this summer.
