The newest texture pack add-on for 4J Studios’ console editions of Minecraft will redesign the entire digital world of the block-based title so that the game appears to be set within a classic cartoon environment. Appropriately titled the Cartoon Texture Pack, the latest Minecraft DLC was first revealed on July 14 by the official website for Xbox Live Arcade. However, the add-on will also be releasing on Playstation systems as well.
Shortly after the Cartoon Texture Pack was revealed, 4J Studios announced on Tuesday that the new DLC is now available for the Xbox 360 version of the game. The developer did warn fans that they might want to wait to purchase the add-on for Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition because the content was incorrectly listed for $4.99 on Xbox Live while the actual price should only be $1. The developer has urged players not to attempt to buy the new texture pack until the correct price is displayed.
4J Studios has confirmed that the Cartoon Texture Pack won’t be exclusive to the Xbox 360. The new DLC will also eventually release on Playstation 3 at a future date. Additionally, Microsoft Studios’ Roger Carpenter has already announced that the new DLC will also become available for the upcoming Xbox One version of the popular creation game after I launches later this summer. Carpenter has served as lead producer on both the Xbox 360 and Xbox One editions of the game.
The reveal of the latest texture pack might come as a surprise to many fans after 4J Studios recently announced that there won’t be any more content released for the Xbox 360 or PS3 versions of Minecraft until after the launch of the upcoming new-gen editions of the game. Clearly that statement was somewhat misleading as the developer has now announced the new texture pack.
Minecraft will launch on the Xbox One and Playstation 4 this August. The latest add-on is expected to be available on the newer generation of consoles as well.
