Clevelanders just love to get out their grills and do some serious meat and vegetable cooking. One of the most popular choices for grilling is bratwurst. If you are a fan of bratwurst, then you don't want to miss the 47th annual Bratwurst Festival in Bucyrus, Ohio on Thursday, August 14, Friday, August 15 and Saturday, August 16. More than 27 tons of sausage will be cooking over open pits.
Bucyrus Bratwurst Festival Known around the world as the "Bratwurst Capital of America, " Bucyrus celebrates the town's German heritage with this 3-day, family-friendly event with more than 100 different foods from local family recipes that have been handed down through the generations dating back to their roots in Germany. Because of this, each bratwurst is unique and different as each recipe varies from maker to maker.
The Bucyrus Bratwurst Festival includes lots of food eating contests including bratwurst eating, of course, in addition to ice cream eating, pizza eating and cream puff eating contests thus earning the Festival the nickname of "Eatingest Festival in Ohio."
Other activities at the Bratwurst Festival include amusement rides, the Best "Wurst" Bike Ride, a queen's pageant, a Legs Contest, a Hoop Shoot, a Mini-Moto, a Pigtail Contest, a Pretty Baby Contest and daily parades. The Thursday and Friday parades are at 7 p.m. and the Saturday parade is at 4 p.m.
The Festival will also feature continuous, live musical entertainment on three stages.
Needless to say, there will be lots and lots of food (including bratwurst) available for purchase.
