Did you miss the Michigan Shakespeare Festival in Jackson this summer? And if not, perhaps the better question is, DO you miss it?
Either way, you're in luck. A one-night-only benefit performance of “Scenes & Sonnets From Shakespeare “will be performed on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at the Jackson Symphony Orchestra Hall.
Conceived by and starring MSF regulars Janet Haley and David Turrentine, “Scenes & Sonnets From Shakespeare” is an original program featuring tasty samples from some of Shakespeare’s most famous works, including “Taming of the Shrew,” “Much Ado About Nothing,” and “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” The evening will also include a selection of delectable hors d’oeuvres and drinks at a reception immediately following the show, hosted by Jackson's local TV personality Bart Hawley and his wife Karen.
“Scenes & Sonnets from Shakespeare” marks the first program in MSF’s 20th Anniversary Season Artistic Associates Series – a slate of performances, readings and special events scheduled throughout this winter and spring.
Artistic Director Janice L. Blixt is excited to be working with Haley and Turrentine once again. “We are so fortunate to have Artistic Associates who are both incredibly talented and incredibly supportive of the Festival. Janet and David can do it all: they’re funny, they’re heartbreaking, they’re shocking and moving performers. I’m overwhelmed by their generosity with their time and talent.”
All proceeds from the “Scenes & Sonnets from Shakespeare” event will benefit the Michigan Shakespeare Festival. The show is on November 9 only at the Jackson Symphony Orchestra Hall, 215 West Michigan Avenue in Jackson. Doors will open at 7:30 p.m. and the performance will begin at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person, $40.00 per couple, and can be purchased by calling the Michigan Shakespeare Festival office Monday - Friday, 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. at 517-998-3673 or online.
