The Metropolitan Opera and Marcus Theatres have partnered again to bring opera to audiences around the globe. The 2012-2013 season began in October and runs through May 15, 2013.
Opera lovers in the Greater Green Bay and Fox Cities area will have the opportunity to watch live performances from the comfort of their local movie theater seat. Twelve performances, which include five new productions, will grace the stage and screen this season. Upcoming performances include "Les Troyens", "Aida", "Rigoletto" and closing out the season is "Guilo Cesare".
The "Live in HD" series marks a seven year partnership between The Met and Marcus Theatres. With tickets running about $18.00 per performance, this series is it quite affordable for many to attend live opera performances. And for those who have missed the live performance, encore presentations will hit the screen as well.
The partnership of The Met and Marcus Theatres marks one of moving ahead with the times. If the fans cannot come to you, bring the performance to the fans. While seeing it live on the screen cannot replace the energy found at the establishment itself, it brings an expanse to a fan base that may have not happened without it.
