'The Mentalist' season 5 spoilers: Now with a touch of 'Homeland'

Thursday is turning out to be quite an eventful one when it comes to casting "Homeland" actors on CBS crime dramas. Earlier, we reported that Navid Negahban (Abu Nazir) has landed a role on the upcoming "CSI" / "CSI: NY" crossover, and now we have a report that the actress behind one of his top protegees for a guest spot on her own.

According to a report from TVLine, Zuleikha Robinson, who was known on the Showtime drama as the character of Roya, will be stopping by "The Mentalist" for an upcoming season 5 episode that could have some interesting implications for one Patrick Jane. Her character will be a brilliant scientist named Dr. Sonia Kidd tasked with trying to understand the biology of killers, and she is going to become particularly infatuated with how Simon Baker's character is able to read into people better than most.

Will she make a move on the man romantically? That much is still unclear, but we do anticipate this being a pretty interesting story to watch. Robinson showed on "Homeland" that she is capable of playing a variety of characters, whether it is a helpful informant, a determined activist, or an angry advocate of terrorism out for revenge on behalf of people she believes have been wronged. The success of this show is leading to castings for many actors across the board, and the only real question left now is who will benefit from being on "Homeland" next.
