'The Maze Runner' due for Valentine's Day 2014 (trailer)

Thomas wakes up in a strange place called the Glade. He has nothing left of his memory, except for his first name. Where is he? What’s he doing here?

The movie is “The Maze Runner,” from the first book of the trilogy by James Dashner. “The Maze Runner” will appear in theaters on Friday, February 14, 2014.

When Thomas wakes to find himself in a different world, he also finds he is not alone. The enclosed structure known only as the Glade is populated by other boys. The tall, stone walls that are said to be for their protection from “Grievers,” monsters who live in the maze. The maze walls surround the walls that make up the Glade.

Each day, a few of the kids are chosen as runners. Runners venture out into the labyrinth and try to map the ever-changing pattern in the attempt to exit the maze. When Thomas is brought to the Glade, strange things begin to happen. The other boys grow suspicious of him.

Thomas finds the maze a bit familiar, however he is unable to figure out why. He has extraordinary abilities as a runner but he is still lost when it comes to the maze.

A girl arrives in the Glade. She delivers a message to the rest of the runners – she will be the last runner to arrive, as the end is near.

“The Maze Runner” has been compared to “The Hunger Games” trilogy. “The Hunger Games” which has already brought one film to the big screen and another is in the works.

Wes Ball will be helming this film. Writers are James Dashner (trilogy and screenplay) and Noah Oppenheim.

The cast members have yet to be announced. Casting has recently begun and rehearsals for the film begin in mid-April, 2013. The shooting of the film will begin on May 1, 2013 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
