Retired Racehorse Training Challenge
Three trainers will select a horse from three Thoroughbreds which have just come off the track. During the selection process, each horseman will talk about how to choose the right kind of horse from off the track.
Their evaluation of the horses will take place in front of a panel of judges. They will be scored on their interaction with the horses and their techniques for bonding with them to begin the ex-racehorses’ off-track careers.
On the second day, the horses will be ridden for the first time, and the trainers will be judged on how well they handle their new horse and the type of training they decide will be suitable for him.
Each trainer will take his horse home after Expo. A month later, at the Pennsylvania Horse Expo in Harrisburg, the three equestrians’ progress will be judged by a second panel of judges, who will announce a winner.
Steuart Pittman is also taking a fourth horse home for training.
