We were honored to get an interview with “Chibi Loki” also know as Janna Berard. She is a exceptional, cosplayer, musician, seamstress and craftswoman. She is a New York native and New Yorkers are enriched and spellbound by her many talents. If you have been anywhere from, Comic-con, to Time Square; she has done it all. When not planning her next cosplay outfit, doing work with animals, or just being a beautifully positive person, Janna also just walks around the city in full cosplay. The type of talented person adding to the joy of adult and kids in our fair city. She took the time out of her search for that next big thing in her life, to share what she is all about.
Thank you Janna, it is an honor to interview you for examiner.
"Thanks for having me."
First off what gave you your start in cosplay?
"Well it was seeing my neighbors cosplay for the first time and it intrigued me. I was in 4-H during that time and one of my main focuses was sewing. I figured I could use it as a way to express my love for costumes."
Tell us about your Etsy store and your craft works?
"My Etsy store has some jewelry that is all real, sterling silver, beads and all. On the other hand, I have a love of "Magic Cards" and have too many. I make ball ornaments complete with beads, string or wire and feathers."
We hear you are not only a cosplay goddess, but in your Midgard persona you fancy yourself a bard and musician?
"Haha, that’s cute. When I was in highschool I played the piccolo and flute. It was fun, and I can’t wait to pick it up again. I do sing however, it’s one of my favorite hobbies!"
Are you going into acting or some other form of the arts?
"I’m looking into some acting positions, usually just small gigs. I like acting, especially when I get the sadistic characters, especially the villains."
Who have been your biggest supporters thus far?
My fans are my biggest supporters since you guys are the ones that keep me going! Your comments always give me smiles on my face! Thank you all for giving me such support!! Love you all!"
What can we hope to see from you in future?
"A lot of costumes, particularly from several video games and movies. Maybe even some jewelry and definitely more of the Magic the Gathering balls!"
What events coming up have caught your eye?
"New York Comic Con have always caught my eye and "Springfest" in Brooklyn. Other than that, the monthly events where fans and friends can group together and have some fun are really my favorite times."
Can you tell us your top five cosplays so far, and maybe a hint at what's you may have in store for the rest of the year?
A lot of cosplayers and crew work the "N.Y." event scene, even in the snow. "Loki," or "The bard" as I call her are evolving, we can expect to a lot of new fashions as cosplayers go to that next level.
