The Mann behind the bisexual character on ‘Revenge’ (Photos)

He’s cute, he’s quirky, he’s bisexual—and he’s one of the only characters on TV that goes both ways.

Actor Gabriel Mann has told the gay press that he’s thrilled about his bisexual character Nolan on “Revenge” because it gives him a wide range of possibilities.

He recently cut his hair a lot shorter for the ABC hit show, and he promises that the out-bi character will still remain as quirky as ever.

Speaking to the Gay Star, he said, “Nolan will still be quirk central, the mayor of quirk city. He describes himself as firmly a three on the Kinsey Scale which sort of puts him right in the middle of everything. I kind of thought that was really interesting as a character because we’ve had some really great, interesting gay characters on television, we’ve certainly had a hundred, million years of everybody being straight on TV too."

Mann is very tuned in to the misrepresentation and under-representation of bi characters on TV.

He said, “I thought that bisexuals weren’t well represented. So as we were kind of figuring out who this guy was, I felt like that would something really interesting to play with, certainly different than some of what we’ve seen on television.”

The character of Nolan met up with another bi character, Tyler, and they had a great affair, but the character was killed off halfway through the first season.

The actor said, “It leaves all doors open, even beyond the sexuality in terms of the genesis of that whole character, my whole feeling about it was that I wanted to leave everything open,’ he adds. ‘Is he a good guy? Is he a bad guy? Is he sleeping with guys? Is he sleeping with girls? Are his intentions true? Is he really just the ultimate two-face?”
