“The Man From Nowhere” is about a haunted man named Cha Tae-Sik (Won Bin) who still grieves over a brutal death in his family. He used to be a special agent for the Korean government who has now become a lonely pawn shop owner. A little girl named Jung So-Mi (Kim Sae-Ron) who is his neighbor keeps visiting him. They become friends even though he keeps her at arms length like he does with the rest of the world.
Jung So-Mi's mother is a dancer at a local night club who steals a bag of heroin from a ruthless drug lord. She puts that bag of heroin in a camera case that she pawns to Cha Tae-Sik. He does not know this & soon the drug dealers come looking for the mother. They kidnap her & Jung So-Mi. As a bargaining tool the drug dealer will keep the girl alive if Cha Tae-Sik hands over the camera bag. He gives them the bag, but the dealer takes the girl and flees.
Cha Tae-Sik realizes that Jung So-Mi has become more than just a visitor in his home. He decides to get her back in any way that he can. He is eventually led not only into a nasty drug world, but also a killing spree of unwanted children whose body organs are sold on the black market. Cha Tae-Sik agrees to make a drop from one drug lord to another in exchange for the girl. After that drop he is almost killed & ends up finding the dead body of Jung So-Mi's mother.
The drug enforcement agency (DEA) have been on the trail of the drug leaders for years. They uncover Cha Tae-Sik's past as the girl is handed over to the underground smuggling trade. As Cha Tae-Sik gets one step closer to finding his little friend he has to battle the henchmen of these drug leaders. A spectacular showdown in the men's bathroom erupts in blood involving a hatchet, a gun & some tough hand to fist fighting.
Does Cha Tae-sik ever find his little friend? Is she still alive? Does the DEA finally get to arrest the drug lords? Will Cha Tae-Sik survive a final, exciting & gruesome martial arts showdown?
Below are quotes from the official 'Amazon' website on the film “The Man From Nowhere.” (spelling & grammer corrected for readers).
YoboDiver - says, “Watch this movie! One of the best Korean movies that I have ever seen. Won Bin (lead actor) is great in this movie and I have found a new found respect for the guy.”
Dennis A. Amith - says, “Overall, there is really nothing for me to complain about (with) this Blu-ray release. Granted, I wish there were more special features and wish the features were in HD, but other than that, 'The Man From Nowhere' is a film that I can easily give my highest recommendation.”
C. Simmons – says, “Because of films like this, I have grown to dislike most American made movies. This film is stylish, to the point, and hits like a hammer. You know the film is great, when the 'Hero' hardly needs to speak for you to understand how the demons literally haunt him.”
